Mel first began acting in films at the age of fourteen, making his debut onto the large film screen for  writer producer, Trevor Wickes of Necton Film Productions. His epic role was that of Frankenstein's monster! Though a small budget film in its day, it received huge coverage by both newspapers and TV, it later received  the runner up position  for the BBC's Horror Films Awards, judged by Michael Winner. When it was premiered in a local community hall, it was sold out within a matter of two days.  Filmed on a standard eight movie camera, over the 7 weeks school holiday period, this was Mel's inspiration to continue for the next 25 years  as a part time actor.

More recently, Mel has taken on more serious roles,  appearing on the Big screen in cinemas across the country, including the 'Odeon' Leicester Square, as well as cinemas in Soho and the national 'Showtime' cinema chain.

Currently, Mel mainly works as a  character actor, with a wide and varied experience in mainstream TV, Feature films, shorts, commercials and the occasional music video.  During 2009,  Mel secured main roles in three feature films, also as featured supporting roles in several others. Recently, he has worked alongside other professional actors, including Patrick Ryecart,  Jonathan Broke, Neil Jackson and Peter Dean to name but a few.

To date, 2010 will see him playing lead in one full length feature film and main supporting roles in at least two others. Mel says :-

" My unusual life experiences have given me a rare insight into a diverse variety of characters and situations. I always strive to give a truly authentic and believeable portrayal of the roles I undertake. Taking the time to study,  develop the character and to 'Feel' and react as they would in any given situation, my aim is always to give a performance which is seen as natural and unforced. 'Acting, without acting!'  I am truly grateful to those in the industry that have given me numerous exciting opportunities, their professional advice and direction, but especially for investing their time and trust in me as an up and coming actor."  Thank you!

DIAMOND ICE'D - (Feature film) KROWN FILMS, ALAN BROWN

Mel took on the challenging role of 'Oli'. This supporting role required Mel's character to take the audience on a journey - filling them firstly with hate and repulsion, but slowly winning their empathy and finally endearing the audience before his untimely and tragic death. Though primarily a straight acting role, it is Oli's limited grasp of the real world, combined with his fear of women and unquestionable loyalty to his crooked boss that provides the viewer with a voyeristic insight into the tragic humour of his situation.

VIOLENT TOM - (Feature film) GOLIATH PRODUCTIONS - Martin J Thomas (DIR/PROD)

A dark action comedy, produced along similar lines to the Brit Flick 'Lock, Stock', Mel was required to play the head henchman (Darryl). Though a dangerous and violent criminal, we experience the humour of the character by witnessing his handling of situations - where fools fear to tread, this character jumps in with both feet. Subtle expressions and body language had the audience in stitches when this movie was premiered at the Odeon, Leicester square. Mel received a large round of applause for two of his scenes and a standing ovation was given at the film's conclusion. Mel's performance gave him an automatic inclusion into the cast for the next 'Goliath Productions' film.

'THUGS, MUGS & VIOLENCE' - (Feature film) NEW BREED / WAY FORWARD PRODUCTIONS. Paul Knight (WRITER / PROD)

A dark but humerous look at the London underworld. Mel was given the role of 'Stunning Steve', a bare knuckle boxer/enforcer, with a penchant for Asian women, sparkling Jewellry and white suits. The humour of this character is witnessed through his lifestyle and his inabilty to suffer fools, but mainly the very direct way in which he deals with death (even of his closest allies) and situations that would 'Normally' be seen to attract a  more empathic attitude! Though this film is not released until March 2010, the trailer which was shown at the recent wrap, was well received by those guests in attendance, leaving them asking for more. A Facebook following of 6,500 already!
